The Israeli West Bank barrier also known as the separation fence is a barrier that was built by the Israeli government. The barrier was built during the Second Intifada, to stop the wave of terror attacks over Israeli civilians which came from the hostile organizations which acted in the west bank. The Israeli government published that between the year 2000 and July 2003 (the time taken to build the first segment of the fence), 73 suicide bombings were carried out originating in the West Bank. However, from August 2003 to the end of 2006 only 12 attacks were carried out.​
